Story behind the song
(©Taszla / Rocketeers / Wobbly Music) This project was instigated by a guy who calls himself "Taszla" from Germany. He posted it on the Rocket Network and it soon accumulated contributions from musicians in many parts of the World. The groove of the track could have taken any direction...rock...funk...jazz....but in the end I chose to make it a Reggae track. I was a regular contributor on the Rocket Network for over a year, contributing drums, percussion, keyboards and even an occasional vocal (sorry guys!) much to the amusement of any serious vocalists! But on this track I merely contributed my arranging and production skills. The session (originally called "Rek-E") got so many good contributions, it expanded into a piece of around 20 minutes. Taszla, sent me the session to mix as I wished, and it remained on my hard drive for over a year before I found the time to devote to it. Taszla sure was surprised when out of the blue over a year later I sent him the mix! I managed to reduce the track to a more listenable 8 minutes without losing any of the contributions! The 29th March 2003 was a sad day because the Rocket Network closed its doors after 9 years. For those who had never heard of it, it was the coolest and friendliest place on the internet for musicians to hang out. A place where we could exchange ideas, jam, or work on serious projects together in real time from anywhere in the World. A technology far ahead of its time. For a while afterwards there were dozens of musicians around the World who felt that a part of their creativity had been murdered. When you listen to this track, you may begin to understand that feeling. The music produced on Rocket, particularly in the public jam sessions, had a sound and a feel all of their own. The sound quality for something that is made almost completely online still astounds me. This is the music of the future....The contributors have done a grand job and I'm sure many people around the World will get a lot of enjoyment from listening to it. The spirit of the Rocket Network online music collaboration is now being kept alive by it's most ardent fans on www.rocketears-online.net
