I have been working with truck drivers since 1968 when I started loading trucks. Since 1974 I have been a truck driver.
Truck drivers have to deal with alot of situations that demand personal sacrifice.
The moral of this song is seen in the imaginary idea that even Chickens which have no deductive reasoning, can get mad enough to go into a uproar when they are forced into cannibalism,
from the goodness of a truck driver, who is willing to give his last meal to try and save them.
The nature of the trucking Industry always places the truck driver into impossible positions.
Verse 1
I broke down five hours ago
Blew out a tire in the middle lane of the road
Four wheelers were going berserk
I Thank The Good Lord no one got hurt
I pulled over and put out my signs
Got out my cell phone and called emergency roadside
Verse 2
I broke down two days ago
I called the roadside people but they never showed
I called my dispatcher to see what he would say
He's on vacation and went far away
And I ain't got no credit cards
And I ain't got enough cash to fix this tire
And I got a truck load of hungry chickens
Verse 3
Hello state police
Yes I would like to report suspicious activity
Yes that's right
Theres a truck driver pulled over on the shoulder of the road
With a load of chickens yea yea chickens
and it seems like he's trying
To feed the chickens his chicken salad sandwhich
And the birds are in a uproar
Why I know it just don't seem right, it just don't seem right
