First impressions of London from a weary Stateside traveler
Trying to make my way through the London Underground (Tube) to visit familiar faces in new places.
My pocket change
Has turned to foreign currency
While cabbies and beggars
Extend their anxious hands
And signs look strange
No Exit just some Way Out, point of view
Dodgy busker
Trade’s a song for all my change
All I need to figure out’s
My path of least resistance
Gonna tap my topped up Oyster card
And fall into the queue
I’ll mind the gap on London Underground
I’m shortening the distance
Riding High Barnet thru Charing Cross
As stations fade from view.
I’ll ride the rails,
And find the fastest shortest path, from me to you.
Weather’s changing
Put on my scarf and ready my umbrella
Kids at play
Betting pence against the sun
London Eye pauses,
Squinting in the haze of passing clouds
The daily Metro
Headlines the winds of change (CH
I sipped the perfect cup of tea.
Downed a pint at famous pubs.
But London isn’t sights and sounds for me.
It’s the people that I love (help me (CH
