Noise ... for art's sake. For the sake of exploring the possibilities of electronic freedom: the ability to sculpt the canvas, mold the brush, tone the color and ultimately apply the strokes in an abstract medium-- a medium where the character of the instruments can be as much a part of the structure as what's being done with them. Impossible Toys seeks to caputre the evolutionary process of forms and modes of tones, coloration, rhythms, noises and ultimately cohesive collections of these elements which suffice to become tracks. It's less about the finished product than the path to it.

Story behind the song
We set out to record a song in one live-PA pass using as many synths and samplers as we could fit into the mixers and as much noise as we could fit into a track. The result is a Roland W-30, TB-303, JX-10, Alpha-Juno 1, MKS-50 and JS-30 all running into the MX-1804x mixer; an Emu ESI-32, Yamaha TG-33 and CS1x provide some other more subtle elements in the track. The predominant tones of the track are the Korg EA-1 used for filter input and delay effects and the Korg ER-1 used for rhythm track, gating and delay effects. The vocals are run through the EA-1, all other mixer inputs are bussed through the ER-1's 2 inputs. The 303 gets really acidic and crescendos into the most hair-raising acid line I think I've ever heard. As always, the TB-303 is sync'd using a Korg KMS-30 MIDI/sync box.

no real lyrics; some effected vocals as noise elements, though
