Mr Rumble
I'm dance music producer an i've been producing about 4/5 years - mainly in UK garage and more recently electro/tech house however i'll try anything - Hip Hop, other styles of House, R'n'B, Drum'n'Bass etc.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I started playing the piano from a young age and always had an interest in music. I then started out producing as a hobby 4 or 5 years ago after DJ'ing for 6 years, as I felt that the DJ'ing wasn't satisfying enough. It then grew more and more enjoyable as i began to get to grips with it and has now become a burning passion.
I have been slowly teaching myself how to play the guitar over the last 2 years and have also recently taken up the drums.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Yeah, as well producing I've been DJ'ing for 11 years and try play out when i can fit in to my life. I have a residency twice a month in central London as well as doing one off events. But making sure i keep a balance between DJ'ing and being in the studio!
Your musical influences
MJ COLE is one of my main inspirations as well as Todd "the god" Edwards. The first time I heard a Todd track I really liked the choppy vocals and bumpy style. A lot of the old skool UK garage producers have left a lasting impression on me too. Right now the artists who are influencing me garage wise are Delinquent, MASK, Misty Dubs and a few others. On the house tip people like, Claude Von Stroke and Dave Spoon are knocking out some great tunes right now!
What equipment do you use?
At the moment a PC.
I'm running Cubase and Reason mostly and trying out Ableton too which I hear is great for live gigs etc.
A Mackie 1202 desk, Alesis controller keyboard, plenty of plug-ins, a few other bits and pieces and when money permits, I still want to get the Korg Triton rack module.
