MrJ is a four piece jazz/funk band based in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The band consists of Pierre Hernandez, Andy Shone, Jon Cox and Justin Lawson.
The band considers themself a beacon of hope in the high school band scene that is dominated by indie/ emo bands. Their bouncing guitar riffs and booming basslines are a welcome change in what is otherwise stagnant local scene.Band/artist history
On a fateful day in December of 2002, Jon Cox said to his friend Justin: "Hey. I have a band. wanna sing?"
Justin replied "uh.... okay."
