new orleans power pop outfit motorway blends influences from the school of the replacements, radiohead, and cheap trick to form a unique sound with swirling melodies and beatlesque chords.
Band/artist history
MOTORWAY formed in October of 1997 under the name TIN STAR. Due to a legal dispute with the U.K. band of the same name, they were forced to change their name to MOTORWAY.
Peter Winkler from the now defunct power trio OF HUMAN BONDAGE, teamed up with Ex-Blue Plate member
Colin Brown when they became disillusioned with their then current projects. Enlisting the help of Ex-OF HUMAN BONDAGE drummer
Eric Padua, the basic MOTORWAY lineup was intact.
The band then added
Tim Leblanc, who had been on tour with Susanna Hoffs (former Bangles member), Tonic,Cowboy Mouth, and Lilly Haden, to fill in on lead guitar duties.
Due to an opportunity to tour with Better Than Ezra, Leblanc opted to bow out of MOTORWAY. With a lead guitarist position open, guitar virtuoso
Michael Blum was asked to fill in for Leblanc on a temporary basis. Blum had played with James Hall, Deadeye Dick, Flux (now Universal Chrome), Joe Tullous, and G Love.
