Mo Shine Records is an established independent record label based out of South Bend, Indiana, an old industrial city just to the east of Chicago. Mo Shine was founded in 2002 by President/CEO Ghost Wit Da Mos and Vice-President/ COO Dott-Lexxic. The label boasts an array of different sounds, as it houses several different acts. These acts consist of a group called The Sindicate,which consists of solo artists Ghost Wit Da Mos, D-Low Flexxican and Stuckey Boy. The Sindicate's decut album, entitled Flame Thrower, will be released New Years Eve of this year. The next act is a group called Infa-Red (Sol & Early Bird). The Mo Shine Family also consists of solo artist Gotti Got Thangs, whose album "Teflon" will be coming soon. The artists on Mo Shine Records have collectivley sold over 20,000 units, combining gritty tales of the midwest street life with the carnal knowledge gained by experiencing the streets up close and personal. They have performed all over the country with artists such as Twista, Juvenile, Eightball & MJG, Lil Wayne, Do or Die, 3-6 Mafia, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, II Short and many more. Mo Shine's first record, entitled "Family Business : We Ride Together We Die Together", is a compilation of the entire roster and has sold close to 5,000 copies. D-Low Flexxican has been flowing for almost 15 years. D-Low's love for music started at a young age because he grew up around MC's like Ghetto Macc, who acted as D-Low's hip-hop mentor and in the future would start the Mob Way Foundation, D-Low's first group. As a youngster D-Low would practice his freestyle whenever he had a chance, often times defeating much older opponents in battles, and eventually, around the age of 12 he began to put his thoughts on paper. He recorded whenever he got the opportunity, and by the age of 16 he was recording with another future member of the Mob Way, Flows Evalasting. It was when D-Low was 18 that the Mob Way became official, and it was then that D-Low's love for hip-hop grew into a career path. He hooked up with G-Macc, Flows Evalasting, Ghost Wit Da Mos, and several other MC's from around the city and recorded "The Mobbin Shady Compilation Vol. 1". This was the first full length record he had put together, and he was hooked. The group dropped the underground album and it did quite well. Shortly after that, D-Low and Ghost branched off to form the Voices of Tragedy. They would soon add Lil Gotti as a third member and the group released two albums, "Tragic Rain" and "They Don't Make Thugs Like They Used 2", before taking a break to pursue solo projects. D-Low spent the next year hooking up with anybody he could, and collabin with a number of artists both local and otherwise. He also recorded an album with Lil' Gotti and Dott Lexxic, under the name 420 Bomb Squad. Although the group performed several shows and were featured on the local radio station, the album was never officially released. It was after about a year that D-Low was offered a deal with Grandmaster Records, a label out of South Bend whose main focus is rock & roll, and D-Low accepted. He recorded and released his first solo album, "From The Shadow To The Spotlight", in 2003. The album has sold well, but exact numbers are not available at this time. D-Low considered the album a minor success, but feels it would have done better had it received more promotion. At the beginning of 2005, D-Low was approached by Ghost Wit Da Mos, his old rap partner and life-long friend, and Dott Lexxic, another old rap partner and cousin, and was offered a spot on Mo Shine Records. Feeling much more comfortable with this situation than his previous one, D-Low accepted and officially became a Mo Shine artist. He is now a member of the group“The Sindicate”, and their debut album and single, both entitled “Flame Thrower”, are making waves all across the country.
Ghost Wit Da Mos is an up and coming artist from South Bend, Indiana and is also the President/CEO of Mo Shine Records, LLC. Being raised by a single mother with four kids, Ghost eventually found himself getting caught up in the street life. By 13 he was living on his own, hustling up enough money to get by everyday. At 14 Ghost was arrested for the first time for carjacking. He eventually served over a year for that offense and it was during that time that Ghost first discovered his ability to flow. Although at the time it was nothing stellar it would serve as the foundation of what would eventually become his life’s love and his career. By 16 he found himself locked up again, this time for burglary, and while his serving his time he began to think more seriously about ways to escape his life. Once out he began to write more and more but found himself still unable to get away from the streets. Finally, at the age of 18, something happened that forced him to focus more on his music. His mother committed suicide, leaving Ghost and his little sister to find her the next morning. After that happened, Ghost realized how much he needed to re-focus his life. He began to really concentrate on his music and he eventually formed a group called “Voices of Tragedy” with D-Low Flexxican and Gotti Got Thangz. The group recorded two albums before taking time off to pursue solo projects. In 2004, Ghost came together with Dott-Lexxic, a childhood friend, and together they formed Mo Shine Records. Ghost is now part of a group called The Sindicate, and they are adding the finishing touches to their debut album entitled “Flame Thrower.” He is also in the beginning stages of recording his debut solo album which will be entitled “Confessions of a Dead Man”. Ghost’s main goals involve pushing Mo Shine Records to the forefront of the hip-hop industry. He also has many other plans in mind, including the formation of a non-profit organization he will call The Future Is Now Foundation. The foundation’s focus will be the rewarding of college scholarships to under-privileged children who may not otherwise have the means to further their education. Be on the lookout for these and many more exciting ventures from both Ghost Wit Da Mos and Mo Shine Records.
Gotti Got Thangz grew up like any other Latin kid on the block with dreams. Thanks to his Father bringing him along for old blues and soul music jam sessions music has been in his blood since birth. By age 13 Gotti was participating in the typical activities of street cats, struggling and hustling to get by. While music was always there, it just wasn’t paying his way. By the age of 18, however, Gotti began to get more serious about his music and joined a group called “Voices of Tragedy” with his brother D-Low Flexxican and life-long friend Ghost Wit Da Mos. On April 4, 2002 Gotti’s oldest brother, Anthony Jacob Villanueva, was murdered outside a club in downtown South Bend. The event proved to be both traumatic and empowering, as Gotti used the tragic passing of his brother to fuel his motivation for music. He has since jumped head-first into the music game and in October of 2005 he officially signed with Mo Shine Records. His debut solo album, entitled “Teflon”, is under construction right now and is poised for a late 2005 to early 2006 release. In the meantime he is politicking with all kinds of music heads all across the nation. “What I really want to bring to the industry is a sense of passion and hope for young Latino kids growing up rough in this world,” says Gotti Got Thangz. Keep ya eyes and ears open because it is only a matter of time before that dream will be realized.
Stuckey Boy is an up and coming artist hailing from South Bend, IN. He grew up in a crack infested neighborhood near the corner of Allen and Lindsay on the city’s West Side, an area known for its high crime rate. After the passing of his father at an early age, Stuckey’s mother worked very hard to provide for her family, but eventually Stuckey and his brother became enveloped by their environment. In between pushing dope and gangbanging, Stuckey picked up a love for rap music. At first it was only something to pass the time as he stood out the grind, but as time went on Stuckey realized he had a special gift and began to become more business minded about his music. He began recording songs in local studios and his buzz began to grow. Still with one foot in the streets, Stuckey crafted such underground hits as “Block Passion”, “Used To Wanna Be The Birdman”, and “All I Know”, which helped him to create an undeniable underground following in the streets of South Bend. In early 2005, Stuckey began to work extensively with Mo Shine Records and was eventually offered a spot on the roster. In August of 2005 Stuckey Boy, along with D-Low Flexxican and Ghost Wit Da Mos, formed the group “The Sindicate” and they began recording the groups debut album entitled “Flame Thrower”. He is also hard at work on his debut solo album, entitled “Pictures in the Ghetto”. His short term goals include becoming a major recording artist with a nationwide following, and in the long term he hopes to own his record label. He also is interested in acting and fashion. Another major thing Stuckey Boy hopes to achieve is the formation of “The Midwest Music Alliance”, which will be an organization dedicated to the unity of all the Midwest states and also to educate young artists trying to come up about the music biz.
