Morgan Lane
Founded in 1998 by, Laura Madere. This group has been called: Everything from, "The Modern Day Indigo Girls, to female versions of Lennon and McCartney."
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Morgan Lane was put together by Laura Madere. After a short few months together, Morgan Lane was already picked as 1 out of 5 best bands in the south for the Jim Beam Whiskey, Best Band Contest. The contest was held at Hard Rock Cafe in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Morgan Lane then turned around and won 1 in 100 best bands in the nation from Sennheiser Microphones.
Just this year they were nominated for a Grammy Award on mp3.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Yes we do play live, at
Your musical influences
James Taylor, Ani Difranco, Dave Matthews, Matchbox 20, Stone Temple Pilots, Eagles, Smokey Robinson, Indigo Girls, Heart, Pearl Jam, The Pretenders, Stevie Nicks, Sheryl Crow, Led Zepplin and many many more. There are also some great Indiependant artist we'd have to add to this list also. There are so many awesome talented artist out there that you may have never even heard of yet. Look around you'll discover some awesome talent I promise you this. ;) I discover new talent everyday.
What equipment do you use?
We use almost anything and everything we can. We love experimenting with anything and everything.
Mostly you'll find: acoustic guitar, electric guitar, drum kit, electric & acoustic bass, violin maybe some keyboards, flutes, percussion, and a strange noise that you'll be guessing for years as to what it was. Don't worry we may be guessing to. lol
Anything else?
I like to add, that we have been live on the net since the end of 2000. We work very hard at promoting our band on-line and off-line.
We have been sending our fans to our mp3 site every since we started, and promoted ourselves just as they have asked us to.
We and 100's of other Indie artist have been taken off or put on hold as I've heard in the rumors. We really don't know the answer because mp3 took us all off with-out even sending us an e-mail or anything, even though we have all paid our $20 each month dues, and it wasn't up again until 5-18-02.
We have lost a major amount of money, due to our business cards, Cd's, flyers, main web-site and not to mention all the ad's we have listed all over the net to bring new fans to mp3. We think this is unfair and very poor for their business and ours.
I have made a lot of great friends with many artist on mp3 and I'll be telling them to come over here where they can be heard for FREE!
Thanks for giving us Indies a place to share our talents.
