Band/artist history

The history of Moonchild begins in the late Autumn 2001, when Daniele Mulatieri (bass player, former Azoto Liquido and Brainfall) and Lorenzo Frati (guitar player, former Six Appeal), lacking in hard 'n' heavy music, propose to Massimo Agliardi (drummer, former Epix, Fonofobia, Brainfall, Steele and Azoto Liquido) to give life to a new musical creature, that would be due to distinguish in the insufficiently populated metallic panorama of Cremona.
The three guys organize for the preparation of a rehearsal room, and the friend Nunzio 'Cucciolo' Favia (former drummer of the famous Italian band Dik Dik) offer them a space in a garage, like first accomodation.
For to cover the vacant places of second guitar player and singer, they contact respectively Alessandro Spotti (former Cloro, Steele and Shrike) and Stefano Zaniboni (former Fum En Blues, Wotan and Steele).
The five members, non professional musicians, animated from a deep passion for music, share a pre-existent friendship, and this remarkably helps to create immediately a good amalgam at musical level.
They chose the band monicker and the first cover songs to play in the rehearsal room, and already from the beginning the strongly heavy mould, which unifies tastes and styles of the members, is outlined.
During the first two months of activity, a repertory, that concurs to cover about a hour and half on a possible live show, is assembled, and the possession of a nearly complete own instrumentation widens to the group the possibilities in terms of search for right places to play in.
In April 2002, Lorenzo decides to leave the band, because of excessive exterior commitments, remaining at disposal for the live dates, until the band would find a substitute; in the meantime, at the musical centre "Cascinetto" in Cremona, a new rehearsal room is prepared.
For to cover the place of guitar player, the band contacts a common friend, Toshiro Brunelli (former Epix and Steele), and the band activity in the rehearsal room goes on, with the study of new cover songs and the composition of some own tracks.
During March/April 2003, the band live activity is suspended for the realization of the first demo, made at the "Città Della Musica" recording studios in Cremona. The work contains five new songs, all composed by the band: Black Horsemen, Moonchild, Evil Conquest, Legions Of The Rising Sun and The Stake.
The attention paid to Moonchild is underlined by the fact that the most important heavy metal websites and magazines in Italy report band’s reviews and live dates.
Currently Moonchild is a stated reality in the heavy metal scene of north Italy; the band is working on some new own songs for the realization of a second demo, and is renewing the cover songs repertory for the continuous live activity.

Have you performed in front of an audience?

Our existence is based on playin' live!!! We played in almost any spot in north Italy, and a couple of times even in Warsaw (Poland)... We love spreading our energy from the stage throughout the whole audience! And we love seein' headbanging metal freaks cry out our songs!!! We think that our first date outside Italy, at Progresja Klub in Warsaw, was the most beautiful moment in our lives!!!

Your musical influences

We think that the words that best represent our musical style are 'heavy' and 'power': Moonchild's music is heavy as the classic heavy metal songs are, and powerful, 'cause of the speed we sometimes reach and the impact we always try to create! There are 5 members in the band, and everyone brings his own taste and ideas during the composition of new songs, and that's why every single beat of our tracks is so different from the others! As we said before, if you like Iron Maiden, Helloween or 80's heavy/speed metal bands, well, Moonchild's sound fits for you!!!
