We came up with the term dumbfist to describe what were doing, says Mojo Filter singer/guitarist Chris Booth about his bands sound. You know, big, dumb powerchords, heavy metal guitars, slammin drums, screaming melodies. Its our version of rock n roll.
With fierce riffs, aggressive melodies, and in-your-face lyrics, this isnt music youre gonna be hearing on TRL anytime soonand thats the point. Mojo Filters dumbfist style has helped establish them as one of the heaviest bands in the Pittsburgh area, and countless local shows and frequent national touring over the past few years have steadily built Mojos fan base.
The new self-titled CD Mojo Filter incorporates all of the bands influences into a record that fuses metal with grunge and hard rock elements. Its violent, at times chaotic, and undeniably attention-grabbing.
Bon Scott, one the discs standout tracks, is a frenzied head-banger from start to finish. By contrast, the albums closing track, Muerte Marcha (Death March), lives up to its name with a slow, brooding verse, devious instrumentation, and searing vocals.
Though Mojo Filter is impressive on CD, songs like Stump and Resolution gain new muscle when performed live. Our live show is more explosive, louder, more energy, says Booth. Mojos hardcore fans sing along with every song, including several new songs already written for the next record.
Currently enjoying local radio play for the first single Stump, Mojo Filter are preparing to hit the road again in 2004.
