Modern
Modern consists of five Chicago MC's which include Masterpiece,O'Complex, Decent, Enoe, and Rio. Versatile and talented, we flow about pretty much anything and everything. At any given track you can witness raw uncut battle lyrics, or we can flip it on you and spit knowledge. We don't like to be confined to a certain genre so you can say that our music is just MODERN.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
MODERN was created in September 2000 when O' Complex created the acronym MODRN. Originally M stood for Myztik, O for O'Complex, D for Decent, R for Rio, and N for Dj Noctournal. At the time, O' Com and Rio were talking with Dj Noctournal to supply beats and recording time. At the same time Myzt and Decent were doing the same. Dj Noctournal introduced the idea that the five should unite and make a group. All accepted, and that how MODRN was born. Around winter 2001 O' Com approached a MC that was a familiar face in the Lane Tech H.S. cypher scene called Enoe to see if he wanted to join the group. Ultimately Enoe accepted and MODRN turned to MODERN. A few years passed as MODERN began to grow and mature. DJ Noctournal was no longer considered part of the group after minimal contact and misunderstandings. MODERN began to work with Fullexposure in January of 2003 thanks to Enoe. Throughout that year Enoe began working on his solo project called "Initial Distortion". Work was completed in the fall of 2003 and was released on November 21, 2003. Work for "Status Quo" the MODERN debut lp started in fall 2003 and is currently in stores.
