Mix von Bix

Ah, there you are! I'm Bix, and I sense that you’re about to listen to one of my songs. Yes, indeed, I am actually talking to you at this moment. Besides that, I'm demanding your brain to listen to more than one song. You see, the songs vary in styles a whole lot, and one shouldn't judge on first impressions. I uploaded some songs that I think are coming close to being finished and are ready to be heard by strangers' ears.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I started making music some 3 to 4 years ago as a hobby. Lately, I'm getting more and more serious about it. I'm going to try out for an education revolving around making music. I began making beats using freeware drumcomputers and other crap. I tried so hard to make sick beats that they often sounded like your speakers were being gang-raped by hundreds of kicks and snares. And no, that actually doesn’t sound that cool. After fooling around for a year I bought myself some gear and started to get a bit more serious. I live by myself in Dordrecht, Holland at the moment. I've got a pretty nice place which I share with my cats Amon and Tobin, and is located in the heart of the city. The coolest thing about my house is my bedroom. Besides my bed, this room contains all that I need in order to create the music I like, anytime I want to. I'ts like an home-studio. And that’s more than enough of my history for you right now. Go read someone’s diary or something! Freak!
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Not yet. I hope in a year or two.
Your musical influences
There's a lot. Just gonna name the few that changed the way I listened to music and made me want to make music myself. Amon Tobin, Richard D. James, Boards of Canada and Radiohead.
What equipment do you use?
Asus laptop, Duo Core/2 gig. ram/7200 rpm drive/ second monitor attached. Edirol pcr-m80 midikeyboard and a smaller one from Esi. Alesis ION synth. CME Bitstream 3x midicontroller. Edirol UA 25 audio interface. Yamaha DTXPRESS4 Special drumkit with Beyer Dynamics headphone/ Phonic PA system. Cubase. Ableton Live. A lot of VST-instruments and effects..
Anything else?
If you got an opinion about one of my songs and want to share it with the world, feel free to leave a comment. Even when you think they suck, let me know, as long as you can tell me how they could improve. Thanks.
