I've been playing guitar for 2 years. I use my Yamaha (acoustic) and my Gibson SG for recording guitar parts. I play through a shitty amp though, sound quality isn't that great.
Nope, I'm trying to get my skills straight before playing in front of people.
My first musical influence was Jimmy Page of Led Zepplin. At the time I was listening to rap, but then my friend taught me Stairway to Heaven (first song I learned) and I just got absorbed into this whole genre of music. From Led Zepplin I started listening to a lot of Carlos Santana, then I got really into blues like Stevie Ray Vaughn and Eric Clapton. I've been listening to a lot of shred stuff like Satriani and Vai and that has influenced me a lot, but lately I've been getting really into jazz. Pat Metheny and Miles Davis and basically everyone they play with.
I use my Gibson SG and a cheap Fender amp ($100)
I also have a whammy pedal, a wah-wah pedal, and a compression pedal which just stopped working today...
