Mike Hanes
I play acoustic guitar in my free time. I've been playing for about 2 years now, I guess.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I was born. I took up bass. My amp broke. I had to get it fixed. While I was waiting, I picked up my dad's acoustic guitar. I never looked back.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
On occasion, yes. Open-mic nights at a nearby coffehouse. It's a little nerve-wracking because I'm not all that fond of centralized attention, but definitely fun. The crowd seemed to like me, so that's about as special as it gets.
Your musical influences
My influences are kind of ecclectic. I draw creativity from listening to TOOL, Bright Eyes, Bread, Beethoven, Benny Goodman, Ravi Shankar, Dave Matthews Band, Tim Reynolds, Ben Folds, Damien Rice, and countless more. Each of my songs showcase a different blend of them.
