Originating from Sydney, with Mauritian background, Mike Celekt (Mike Cite) combines extraordinary rhyme skills and song writing, with catchy hooks and unmistakable delivery. At the tender age of 5, Mike Celekt began break dancing, and instantly born his love for performing and Hip-hop. By age 16, Mike was writing, co-producing, recording and performing his own tracks, in association with bnaproductions.
During this time he continued to grow as a performer, supporting international acts including Kci & JoJo, Next, Lost boys and Blackalicious, and was even invited on stage to perform with the Fugees. Mike Celekt has also been a regular performer, Deejay and resident emcee at a number of Sydneys most popular rnb nightclubs. Most recently he has performed at Londons the 10 room and Sound Bar.
To further his development as an artist, Mike has recently relocated to the UK. Living in London, he has had the opportunity to meet producers and A&R managers, many of whom became interested in Mikes work following the radio success of his track Zzoot Zzsoo (one of Mikes first tracks). Zzoot Zzsoo was chosen by BBC Radio1 to feature on the RnB charts with Trevor Nelson, as well as many other major daytime shows, as part of their Unsigned Onemusic campaign. Due to its popularity, airplay had to be extended to satisfy the requests of listeners.
Most recently Mike Celekts track Xtra Xtra, features on a Universal Music Australia compilation titled Blazin 3 (mixed by DJ Nino Brown & Samrai). This track has also been used by BBC 1XTRA as part of their Homegrown radio show intro. Mikes tracks have also gained the support of the major radio and club DJs from Sydney to London.
Mike Celekt also features on an UrbanStar Records release titled A night to remember by international artist Romina Johnson and produced by Full Crew (Craig David and Mis-Teeq).
Mikes work has featured on BBC Radio 1XTRAs 100% Homegrown show with Minq, and was a winner in their competition for Homegrown cuts. He has also featured at number 4 for the 100% Homegrown chart, to celebrate 1XTRAs 1st birthday.
