Mike Buchman crafts 100 percent hand-made songs using all natural ingredients. His tunes are gluten-free and contain no synthetic sugars, but remain sweet and chewy. His music mines the rich veins of odd perspectives and spiritual questing. Mike plays locally around his hometown of Seattle.
Band/artist history
Some of my most profound aural memories: The chugging rhythms and careening voices of Motown blasting from my fathers Dynakit stereo; singing along with Broadways whip-cracking wordplay; the morning sun shining like a red rubber ball through the three-inch speaker of my sisters transistor radio; a box of rain and a cinnamon girl crackling from my first hi-fi. My songs dont really sound like any of these, but the way I think about writing songs is certainly influenced by them My tunes explore lifes many journeys: birth, death, aging, finding love in the depths of the sea and loosing it in lifes debris. My music is built on chords and fingerpicked hooks played on acoustic guitar. I'm learning to play clawhammer banjo, but won't subject you to it. Yet. Ive written all my life, but only turned to songs in my mid 40s. I hope my lyrics will make you think and tickle your laugh button. I live in Ballard with my wife and play at Seattle area venues. I'm a few months from retiring from a 30-year career with an anti-poverty organization. I haul our trash to the curb, water the garden, cook healthy meals, and eat way too many pretzels. Our yard needs weeded.
