Mike Amason

I have been writing songs for thirty years and have some real clunkers to my credit. What you will find here are the least objectionable of the lot. I have been told I have a voice with the appeal of a room full of alarm clocks on a Monday Morning. I have a classic face for radio. I had slowed down for a while before I ran across the Just Plain Networking songwriter's forum and got recharged by the super people there. Join us if you will at www.justplainfolks.org I play to entertain me. If you find anything here of any interest, enjoy and welcome. If not, please send my address to someone you don't like. Thanks and have a safe and harmonic life, Mike
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I sing, therefore I am.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I play open mikes on occasion around Columbia, SC, where I live. When the spotlight turns on, I know what a stack of pancakes feels like when the melted butter and syrup get poured on.
Your musical influences
I grew up in the late 60s and early 70s, arguably one of the peak creative times in the 20th century. CSNY, James Taylor, Joni, Cat Stevens, Jim Croce. Also have a huge interest in the old delta bluesmen and the street musicians of the 20s and 30s - Mance Lipscomb, Bo Carter, Blind Willie McTell (who I actually saw when I was two or three years old, playing in the parking lot of the Pig & Whistle in Atlanta), Blind Blake, Rev. Gary Davis...the list goes on.
What equipment do you use?
Larrive OM-09, Taylor 510, Wildwood open-back banjo, Tascam Portastudio, Akai reel-to-reel, Audacity, lots of ginger ale for recording fuel.
