Michelle Klaessens aka Dragonorchid
Well, I'm currently a one man... or should I say gal band - being a singer/songwriter.
I spend most of my time doing audio engineering (recording and mixing) for other bands, so I don't often do much of my own stuff at all. I plan to get onto that one day!
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Started writing songs in my spare time when I was studying at university (E&E Engineering) and working part-time at the cinema as a projectionist. I bought a keyboard on hire purchase and started using it to sequence my songs... hence the tinny keyboard sound of the demos. I plan to record these songs with a proper band one day soon.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Have not really played live much, I've done a few open mic nights and sung in choirs... Does being a choir soloist in the madrigal choir in high school count?
Your musical influences
Everything - I've always loved music.
Especially 80's type supergroups like Def Lepard, Toto, Chicago, U2 and Van Halen. I've always loved the piano too... that's why I bought the keyboard.
