This music is pretty much a solo effort, with help from friends on several tracks. The songs were chosen from my catalog for thematic, rather than stylistic coherence (except for the last track). I still believe in the "album" experience of yore, where one would enter a space and go on a little musical journey. I hope these songs bring you something.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I've been playing in bands since junior high school in Houston (Brimstone). Rock, pop, dance tunes. I was in a punk style band in the early 80's, which transformed into a drum-machine style pop-rock band called The Big Dippers in San Antonio. This transformed into Dancing Bear in Austin with a real drummer, and we were showcased in the first SXSW event. After I relocated to Washington State I played in an asortment of duo's, trio's, and a really fun old-style country band, the Steel Madronas in Port Townsend. Now I'm in old Virginia.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I just moved to central Virginia, and am seeking a band situation again. I have always loved playing live.
Your musical influences
clapton, garcia, SRV, n. young, beatles, moody blues, kinks, and most of the classic Austin sound.
What equipment do you use?
Les paul jr., telecaster with h-b's, heritage 555, old guild dreadnaught, run through fender HR deluxe.
Anything else?
Any feedback, on any aspect, would be gratefully appreciated.
