Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I was born in upstate New York and have always been interested in indian culture as it is very prevelant there. We moved to Arizona in 1981 which, of course, has a very strong indian flavor so my interest deepened..
In 1998, a friend and I began experimenting with music and from that I realized a dream. Eventually his interest weakened but I kept on. In 2000 I began a heavy bit of experimentation with glitchy, experimental music and from this era I developed a love of ambient music. Little by little ambient influences began to creep its way into my newer attempts until half of the songs I was creating were completely ambient. In early 2001, I had a life changing experience. During this same time I watched in horror the images of September 11th. I have family members affiliated with the World Trade Center so it hit too close to home for me. From this rattling experience, my love of tribal music and culture came directly to the forefront of both my thoughts and my music.
As if a switched had suddenly been flipped on, I spent an incresing number of hours working on songs and from these early sessions came the "Music for Sunsets EP".
Once finished it had firmly established my love for indigenous music from all parts of the world combined with a signature ambient sound I had developed. I recently completed my newest endeavor entitled "The New Tribes EP" and I have live appearances in scheduling stage as I write this. Adding to this a few projects where I will be scoring independent films on the grassroots level and also collaborating with other local artists as well--and there's still more!
My personal website features more streaming mp3 and FREE downloads as well, I hope you will visit!
Your musical influences
I am influenced by indigenous music from Africa, Middle East and especially Native American peoples. Also the music of Dead Can Dance and both Robert Rich and Steve Roach.
