Michael Hawkes
"The songs I sing and play search me out. All I have to do is open myself up...open that foggy window to the soul. They find their way in on the breeze." -Michael Hawkes
Michael Hawkes writes and records all of his material. He believes song writing is both cathartic and fulfilling. His goal is simple: to share his music with the world.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I've been playing off and on since I was about nine years old.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
"I like to play live rather than dead when I can. The quality of it all is a bit higher when I'm breathing..."
Your musical influences
At a young age I was influenced by Elvis, Johnny Cash, and the beatles. Over the last decade however, I turned on to Bob Dylan. That cat changed me forever.
What equipment do you use?
I have a very intimate relationship with my Martin D-15 solid mahogany dreadnought.
