Michael Garcia
Hey, it's Michael! It has taken forever but I'm finally producing recordings that I find listenable. So, all of this will be things recorded in my living room either by myself or with friends.
Your musical influences
I started out listening to whatever my older brothers were into like Megadeth and Iron Maiden. What led me to heavier music was Children of Bodom. Before Listening to Alexi Laiho I didnt even like yelling/heavy vocals, but the guitar and double bass won me over. From there I got into a bunch of melodic foreign stuff like Kalmah, Arch Enemy, and In Flames. Later on came Necrophagist, Behemoth, and Gojira. Now I enjoy a lot of modern stuff like The Faceless, Veil of Maya, After The Burial, and my latest little gem, Periphery. Though I would have to say that my all time biggest influence would have to be Steve Vai!!!
What equipment do you use?
I use a Line6 Spider Valve HD100 MKII, Ibanez RG Prestige 1550m, ESP LTD Alexi 600, and an old PRS SE all recorded direct from the head into my mic/line port. I had tried using an SM57 to mic my cab but found plugging direct to be better for my very limited setup
