Merry Widow
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Late 1997, in Jacksonville, FL, saw the birth of Merry Widow; a revival of a dying style of dark-rock. Now in 2004 that revival has evolved into an international movement as the band prepares for the release of their next album.
Coming from a wide variety of musical backgrounds and experiences, this band has worn many faces and survived both hardships and good fortune but, all in the line of bringing good original ideas to a lollipop-cookie cutter industry. Backing up this ideal is their repitoire of hard edged music and celestial melodies and harmonies coupled with driving guitar, haunting keyboards, and intricate programming. With their debut album "Ties that Bind" receiving international recognition and airplay and their single "Mr Nightmare" receiving national acclaim (including two reviews on Rollingstone.com) the band gears up for their second release, scheduled for a late summer release.
Merry Widow, in its current incarnation, is vocalist Xelana M. Drake, vocalist/keyboardist Sketch J. O'Brien, bassist Georgie3F, and guitarist Rick Price. Though the band has seen many changes in the past four years and suffered many losses, they have proven to stay true to their sound and vision in their latest lineup. Now they prepare to continue the success that they have seen thus far. With the followup to "Ties that Bind" nearly complete, a fall tour in the works and a whole new lineup, Merry Widow is ready to take the stage by storm, and the world is ready to watch.
