The band was put together by JeanPaul Avellaneda in '95 with the objective of bring a bit of pace back to the blues, the critics decided to call it Swamp so we decided to do the same thing.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
On the road for almost ten years, MERCY is a power trio that really electrifies the public. Their talent, energy and the quality of their stage performances are recognised by the press, music press and music professionals alike ; the band has also played warm up for such notable artists as BB King, ZZ Top, Robben Ford, Lucky Peterson and many others. Released in March 2004, their latest CD, MAGIC, on the Nocturne label, has been rewarded by a « Coup de cœur FNAC » (front of store promotion by the FNAC France’s top multimedia chain) for the month of April 2004 and a second place in « Powerblues » radio vote sponsored by CROSSroadS (one of France’s most respected music magazines) to the great pleasure of music lovers of all tastes. MERCY is also a six piece, presented during the « Festival de Cruis », south east France, in June 2004, Sax and two harmony singers add their talents to this already outstanding band. Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We live in the south of france where we are an almost unknown quantity but we play live all over Europe and we love doing it, we have a very close relationship with the public.Special moments? Yeah, those hot summer nights playin' under the trees in some village and getting drowned out by the crickets going through our PA!
Your musical influences
From BB King to Tom Waits going through everything else in between.
What equipment do you use?
A lot.
Anything else?
We try to put a little fun and a max of energy into the show, communicate as much as reasonable with the public, just get up there and do the best we know how i guess.
