New York born, East Atlanta -based rapper Verlon is a D.O.P.E. boy (Dreaming on Planet Earth) - plain and simple- but he's not out pushing illegal substances. Verlon is out slinging infectious rhymes over tight beats; showcasing his talent and versatility through the independent label, Fly'Est Creationz Entertainment. He declares D.O.P.E as an acronym for "Dreaming on Planet Earth," something this emerging artist, who just turned 18 years old, has been doing since he was a young boy.
Born Andre Verlon Dickerson Jr., in Yonkers, NY on the blazing hot day of July 19, 1993 to parents Erica Griffin and Andre Dickerson Sr. Verlon was surrounded by music which influenced him at an early age to want to be a rapper. He was raised around family that encouraged him to be creative and tributes his love for rhyming to his older cousins, Randall aka "Ree-skee" and Kasheem. "My great grandmother owned a drum corp and I would march in uniform at the parades when I was two years old." When Verlon was seven he moved to Jacksonville FL for two years. Later relocating to the suburbs of East Atlanta traveling back and forth from Atlanta, where he resides, to Yonkers where he father resides.
"I'm setting goals for myself with a timeframe to achieve it, once that goal is accomplished, I set my sites on the next goal."
Verlon recently graduated from Southwest DeKalb High School May, 2011 and is currently a co-ed at The University of West Georgia in Carrollton, GA.
Verlon's anticipated mixtape D.O.P.E Music Just the Beginning hosted by DJ Spinz, is scheduled to be released Sept 18.
For Verlon, Dreaming on Planet Earth is just the start. Soon, he plans on taking over the entire galaxy.
