Marq-J developed an inspiration for good music at a young age when his parents operated a popular nightclub in Hattiesburg, MS. His siblings shared positions at the establishment with the brother as the DJ, the sisters as waitress and dancing showgirl. It wasn’t long before the entertainment bug literally bit him.
Marq J began playing the piano, the violin and the trumpet in the school orchestra. As an adolescent, he began creating dance routines, writing and producing his own lyrics and beats. In 1995, he produced his first stage production and performed as the opening act for Kut Klose and Trisha Covington.
