theonem's SoundClick blog - Sad times, sad songs
Sad times, sad songs
Well i landed a job working for a big music store chain, i think its a blessing to be there not because its the best paying job but because i get to be around music for 9 hours a day instead of working behind a desk.. i wanted to leave this little blog to say hi to all my cyber friends and fans that support my music and also give everyone an update i got 2 more tracks done for "Tales from a Dreamer" and as soon as they get mastered they will be getting uploaded...

on the lighter side of things my brother has a new toy a little camera that takes pretty good videos too... so we made a little video of me performing one of my songs.... hope u guys enjoy...

you did what i've been thinking trying to do: get a music related job; congrats; unfortunately for me I dont see any "big music stores" around here (what's yours?); so I am considering applying to the small shops; any tips?

its actually samash music.... great place to work and meet musicians.....

ideally working for bigger shops is more money because there comission rates tend to be higher and of course they have benefits but just like any retail/comission job its really up to the sales person to make the money u pay urself... i just find it easier to talk about instruments because when i say "i love this guitar, or this bass has a really thick and clear tone" im saying what i really think and not something i was taught to say to sell....

however if my music takes off im not staying as a salesman... haahhaa

right?

baby - sell, sell, sell til your cd takes off and then just sell yourself into gigs! you're so talented and gig ready. you have a great stage presesnce, such an emotional delivery, but i do keep waiting for that tongue in cheek song - you always look like you're going to laugh instead of cry, but there is that crying otne to your voice. i can't wait to hear some new tunes. all the luck - peace---jd
