markku's SoundClick blog - JABB3
I've been using JABB for brass ever since they first came out. I've always been disappointed after spending countless hours drawing in animation for the various midi cc controllers needed in the VST softsynth and then another 20-30 hrs tweaking them.

When Garritan came out with JABB3 and the Aria player, I was hesitant to upgrade even for the $49, not even the cost of a tank of gas for my vehicle. But, curiosity got the best of me and I decided to get it anyway even tho I really couldn't afford it at this time.

I had done a tune with brass not too long ago before upgrading, using the Kontakt 2 player and sure enough was disappointed with the end results. I then decided to try and see if the Aria player would produce better results. It seemed to sound much better but still lacked the realistic quality that only a live player can produce. Perhaps I'm just expecting too much from a VST softsynth but you figure, after 6 years of working with a sofsynth that I would finally get some satisfaction from my efforts.

I am a creature of habit and perhaps am a glutton for punishment and decided to create a new tune, once again using JABB, but this time starting from scratch and using JABB3. I decided to do something in a smooth jazz form, so I did a tune called Good Point. The brass have been created using the VST JABB3 along with the e.p, rhythm guitar and bass. The only things real are the drums and my guitar. The strings were created using Garritan's GPO, which I was very impressed with.

So I could use your feedback on the tune Good Point as to whether I'm hearing something differently? Am I just being a bit too critical or am I perhaps expecting too much from the VST? Your feedback would be a big help and I thank you!

The tune can be found on my station and on mysoundclick page.
