                              The Praise of his Glory
Jesus uses a vine, branches and husbandman as symbols to demonstrate the relationship between the son, farther and believers. The Son is the vine, the branches are believers and the husbandman is God. As long as the believer abides in the vine he will bear fruit. If we continue in Christ to obey his word we will bear fruit. Fruit is the result of one’s relationship with God by faith in Christ. “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you,” John 15:7, this is the condition for a relationship with God, his word must be the controlling purpose in all that we do. The word of God is seed with power to produce fruit. “good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience”, Luke 8:15.
One benefit of abiding in Christ is answered prayer, John 15:7. When God does not answer a desired request it is because we are asking for something out side of the will of God. Jesus taught his disciples to ask according to the will of God. It was in Gethsemane that Jesus prayed “O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.” Matthew 26:39. Many times we ask God for a way out of suffering but Jesus submitted to the Cross unto to death. Jesus knew that through suffering death on a Cross Salvation would be given to everyone that believes on the name Jesus. If God has not answered your prayer it may be that he will use your suffering for his Glory.
Because of what Jesus suffered in obedience to God we are able to know God, to have a relationship with God through the love of his Son. It was the love of the Father caused him to give his son as a ransom for the world. The Son out of love gave his life so that we can be saved from sin and the eternal judgment of God.
We have the example of the life that Jesus lived out of his love for the Father. On the very night of his Crucifixion Jesus says to his disciples “continue ye in my love.” John 15:9. Just as Jesus was faithful in keeping the words of his Father he asks that we continue to do whatever the word of God says. If we continue to live by the word of God Jesus said that we would abide in his love, John 15:10. Love is the fruit of knowing and obeying the word of God.
Our Lord is soon coming back to this earth and he will be glorified in his saints for we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is, 1 John 3:2. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed, 1 Corinthians 15:52. In the day of the Lord the whole world will see the glory of God in his saints.
On that day we will see the plan of God in its fulfillment. On that day we shall put on immortality and partake in an inheritance predestined before the creation of the World; an inheritance made possible by the blood of Jesus. The Glory of God is the salvation of Sinners. We are the praise of his glory, Ephesians 1:12. It is great to know that God has sealed every believer with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is a sample of what we shall receive in full when Jesus returns to earth in all of his glory, to pull off this earthly house and put on immortality, never again to suffer the pain of Sin and Death.
As we live out the praise of his glory others will see the work of his Spirit in the fruit of faith and love. “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” John 13:35. Love is the revelation of God by the Spirit in wisdom and Knowledge. So we look to the Holy Spirit to enrich our lives so that others will see Christ working in all that we do.
Holy living is what the purpose of God is for all of
