Thanks for the kind comments Al - Rod's track (minus my guitar) - final production on this end. I had remembered hearing this back when it came out in '74, and hadn't heard it since. Have a super Saturday up yonder wink ;)

Yes, back in the studio, but still a steep learning curve. I know my way around the software (just about!), but now it's a matter of getting the sound right. I also have to keep telling myself to "think digital" rather than putting things together with analogue in mind. I'll get there...eventually, lol!

UPDATE:
I’m glad you enjoyed “Stiff Jazz” that much. Because you get such a happy mood from it, I always think it must have been created like a kind of joke, on an extreme optimistic moment, don’t you think so too?

Hi Al,
Flite was some time ago, but I’m sure you heard it before. As far as I know it’s from their first album, “Every Day”. The track on that album that I like very much too is “All Things To All Men”, I listened to it again because of our subject. Yes, Cinematic Orchestra is very special.

Here is something different, my WE tip: https://youtu.be/Mny0AD-Bob4

And enjoy your weekend as well,
Alexander.

UPDATE:
How could I forget your Funk (RnB)? It’s so much the signature of your creations.
The rest of your top 3 was not surprising me.

Have a great coming week,
Alexander.

Hi Al,
Interesting question, my top 3 in genres: I really had to think about it, but here it comes:

1. Jazz like the Cinematic Orchestra, Hidden Orchestra and Floex.
2. Electronic/Dance, like Miwon, Funky Porcini, Lindstrøm & Prins Thomas and Darius.
3. Chill/Lounge, like Zero 7 and Air. Or do you call it Downtempo and something?

And what are your top 3 in genres? I guess your list is starting with Jazz (but there are all kinds of Jazz) and Progressive Rock (of the 70’s or 80’s). Am I right?

Cheers,
Alexander.

Hi Al,
I translated your word “titillating” becaus I never heard it and here is coming the Dutch word: “zinneprikkelende”, really a beautiful one, poetic.

I know what you mean, and Spin has enjoyed himself very much too. Look at his message on my page.

Have a very nice Sunday,
Alexander.

Al, thanks for stopping in! I'd nearly forgotten about that quickie "blues" thing, wrapped up in some pending Rabbit tunes and the last video. Always appreciate your thoughtful ears (do ears have thoughts?) - thank you!!! big grin :D

Oh, Al! I'm not tired of being surprised at the perfection of your musical stuff, so what can I say? This is a model for me in all the aspects.
With regard to individuality... We're all trying to find our own unique way, so - we're different, and it's normal and even very good! We are just separate waves of the global music stream which is a Whole. big grin :D
So let all colors of the "Cosmic Rainbow" shine brightly! smile :)
Happy for the fact we stay in touch!
Have a nice weekend!
Andrew.

Hi Al,
I was checking Erykah Badu, and found this one:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MA81bMvO2_o

Think you like it very much, it's with the Robert Glasper Experiment.

I'm glad you enjoyed the tip. Yes the two female vocalists indeed have got similar voices, but their styles are completely different for me, at first listen. Erykah Badu has got a lot of variety in her songs, anyway.

Don't know how I choose the tracks, but it's nice to share it every week.

And thanks for your compliment about "Soul Church".

Warm regards back,
Alexander.
