We started rapping about the end of our high school years.  The song Doin My Job was our first song ever, closely followed by Listen.  We recorded those songs with the bare minimum.  Wal-mart mics, sound recorder, and no mixer.  It was pretty bad.  Recently we saved up some money to buy recording equipment.
