I grew up in a musical family of five siblings, each playing a different instrument. At 10 years old I received a drum set for Christmas and was given lessons at Mikes Drum Shop in downtown Santa Barbara. I was a terrible student and never liked practicing. I found singing and writing lyrics much more satisfying to my creative needs. At 19, I joined my first band, THE AIRHEADS, as drummer with high school chums Pat Ryan (bass), Marc Beutel (vocals), and Matt Gerety (guitar). We played all original music because none of us were good enough to learn any real songs. My brother Nick and I were also recording lots of Piano, drums, and vocal tracks in the backroom of my parents house in Goleta. This project later became known as IDIOT SIN. In the late 1980's, I joined classic rock cover bands as lead singer during my college years in Chico California (LOOSELY TYDE, and BABY WANTS MILK). After living abroad for several years, I returned to California and recorded three albums with my brother Nick for IDIOT SIN. (ORIGINAL SIN, HOAX, AND III). Shortly after, I moved to Portland Oregon a became drummer for THE SPOKES from 2003 until 2011. We played around town at places like Ash St. Saloon, Tonic Lounge, The Know, and several Bicycle Festivals. During that time, I recorded a solo guitar instrumental jazz/rock fusion album under FREED WILLY titled TWENTY SIX MINUTES in 2008. And a solo keyboard instrumental jazz/rock fusion album under the name O'MALLEY MARS MISSION in 2011. In 2013, I began recording music with SPOKES guitarist and old high school friend from Santa Barbara, Charlie Lloyd. The results of this collaboration is a album released in 2018 under LLOYD O'MALLEY PROJECT titled RATTLE THE CAGE. I enjoy all forms of music and playing all forms of instruments. I hope to keep playing, recording, and releasing music until I die.
