Cheers Steve, from us both big thanks for the visit, spins and comments, always appreciated and always look forward to it - hope all's well mate and yes, the synth-pop music is our natural go to as the 80's are where we came from musically (our unsigned 'band' kicked off in '81 and finished in '86 and tbh we didn't really absorb much other than pure new wave/synthesizer music, mostly from the UK but also stuff like Devo, B52's, Blondie, Heads and Icehouse). Steve, I haven't played the song, '39' by Queen for a very long time. There are some beautiful chord voicings and changes.
D to Eb dim. is one of them. It still works if you play D to B7. But actually, Db dim isn't an especially difficult chord to finger, it just sounds as if it might be. All the various, (sus 4) chords are pretty straight forward really.
So I've been brushing up on playing this fabulous song. There are some vocal high notes to reach in this song. When I was a younger guy, I didn't have any problem with them. I'll need a good old warm up to sing it now. The folk club crowd are very forgiving lot.
Thanks for the nice comments about my long lost instrumental with the featured, 'brass section'.

39 ...Well, maybe as a very stripped down acoustic version with 2 acoustic guitars, a kick drum and bass. I think that the Brian May guitar orchestrations and other overdubs are a step or two beyond me. ;)

Funny you mention teaching that my Brother who is a professional musician showed me that back when I was in college and it was one of the first things I did that wasn't 3 chords and a cloud of dust. Good song to teach..

Thanks for checking out my updated version of till there was you. I have been on a mission of upgrading my old songs with my newer and better recording gear and software. That was a detour as I’ve been focusing on originals
