Blue Django (Eric John Sawyer) was born and raised in South Africa. In 1973 he began learning to play the guitar after having a rather unique experience while listening to two fellow students performing a song in the boarding school library. He was a late starter and recorded 5 albums with Bruce Taylor between 1996 and 2005. He also recorded 1 solo album in 2004 and 1 more with Andy Dunlop from his band 'Fat Nappy', in 2006. In 2007, he recorded 'Peace Dove' in Hollywood in the U.S.A with Mike Pachelli and Randy Stonehill. Also performing on his album were Ronnie Ciago and Lance Abair. In 2008, after minor surgery to his heart he played solo and band gigs in England, returning to South Africa in 2013.
