Freaks to the Front are a three piece band from Hamburg, Germany who know each other since their childhood. Well, talking about childhood...no, not highschool days, THAT childhood when you don't know of any "significant" differences between boys and girls (and don't care anyway), so we're talking about decades, not years. Originally started as an up to seven piece crossover-wave-funk-metal-pop band, the three charming fellows nowadays known as "Freaks to the Front" spent most of their early years trying to get rid of "fellow band members" and "buddies" who did everything possible to prevent them from playing great music...aiming goals...reaching stardom... Anyway, those three Freaks finally suceeded and self-recorded their well aclaimed debut "Young cooks and heavy dishes". Years went by and though those three funny lads finally had THE line-up they always wanted, playing the music they always wanted to play - things were getting difficult: New jobs, new homes, new side-projects, new partners...at the beginning of the new millenium, it really seemed that the ever-remaining friends were about to call "Freaks to the Front" a day. Tatatataaaa!!! Not with those three super..em...well. A "final meeting" in late 2003 resulted in writing and recording "Ska wars", an alternative Ska-rocking tune, which shook - if not the industry - at least the band itself in its foundations. It was like a sleeping volcano bursting out. Soon after the recording of "Ska wars", the band had an amount of about 30 ready-to-record songs. Closer than ever, the three "Freaks" continue to write and record catchy and elaborate prog- and retropopping songs. Their sound changed over the years to a much more mature and (some say) beatlesque kind of adult oriented pop music with three- and four-part vocal harmonies, rather complex song structures along with a certain feel of melancholy.
