I was born in Columbus, Ohio a long long time ago and it seems that I have been singing ever since:) I actually began singing in school and church when I was 7 or 8 years old and I first appeared on TV when I was 12.
I began singing professionally, as in actually was getting paid to do it, when I was 14 singing bass for a touring gospel group called The Pleasant Hill Quartet.
I am still recording & still playing out on occasion but I have started concentrating more of late on building my record label Colt Records. We have some awesome young talent and I am enjoying helping them with their careers and producing great songs.

Get Paid To Get Played
Feb 16, 2009
A friend of mine, Rob MacArthur of Spectrum Entertainment came up with a rather unique plan to make some money while also getting your music played on World Country Music Radio Here is how it works..; To become part of the co-op costs. $10 per year For that you get to have one song aired on the station. You can change the song at anytime. You also get a ;link on our back ground ;link wall. Every person you get to join the co-op, you will get $150. You will also get a share of the station which entitles to get a percentage of the money made on any advertising. The two forms of advertising we will have is the ;link wall, which you get a square as a member, and banners on the site or ads in the broadcast. Start the first of the month after you joined, you will start to get your share of any revenue generated this includes advertising and new members. If you can get advertisers, besides your sharenyou will get 15% of the advertising sale. So, it is in your best interested to get people to listen, to advertise and to join. This is a new idea and in the current times, it just may work. The nice thing about it, is there is no real big cash outlay. Whether you are on artist or songwriter, this is a way to gain exposure, and hopefully make some money... His email.. address is; rob-macarthur@rogers.com and tell him that JK sent ya and here is my co-op member number 2009-003 Get paid to get played:)

Indie Country Fest 2009
Jul 21, 2008
Hi All, We are in the beginning planning stages for holding an Independent Country Music Festival in Ohio on April 25th. It is a bit of a short notice I know but if there is enough interest shown we plan to go for it as the Indie artists need their own festival to promote their talents to the people. I sincerely believe that the best artists in The World are not the ones on the major labels that you are hearing on your radio everyday. Sadly country music has reached a state when the one with the most marketing, promotion and of course MONEY behind them wins and talent has very little to do with it. I and my friends & business partners are wanting to do what we can to change that but it will take some time as it has taken 18-20 years for the music business to reach its present state. So if you are an artist on an Indie label or no label at all that is interested in performing please send me an email. Just be forewarned that at least for this year it will not be a paying gig. In fact we may have to even charge a small fee to perform just to cover our expenses. We have to pay rental on the facilities, hire security, purchase liability insurance and pay for the production costs such as sound, lights & staff members. Not to mention that we need to advertise and promote the show. We will also be video taping if you are interested in having a video of your live performance. We are not looking to make money from this as it is for the artists but we have to cover our costs. If you are a fan please show your support and make plans to attend on Saturday September 27th from around 11 AM until 10 PM. More info & directions are listed on the website, which I am still in the process of building. It is at; www.indiecountryfest.com Regards, JK Coltrain

Hi J.K.
How ya been? It's been a while and I skipped Nashville this year... things are a little tough. Do you remember Who Took the L ? It was the song that first kinda hooked us up. I rewrote it and made it a girl song and a friend of mine Julianne sings it on this demo. Please give it a listen and let me know what you think. I still haven't done anything concrete with Loco yet either. let me know if your interested.
I glad to see Colt Records is holding it's own in these times.
God Bless the music makers,
