Co-creator of SoundClick. Grew up in Germany and moved to New York in the mid 90's. Coded the first band sites manually with twin brother Tolgar in our small Manhattan apt. Learned ColdFusion, SQL and whatever was needed to move forward.
Rented some servers, moved on to our own server farm, moved everything to the cloud. Learned new tools. Still coding everything together with my brother. And here we are!
Let the adventure continue.

Stereophonics concert

[media] Yesterday Stereophonics were playing at NYC's Webster Hall. Being a fan since day one I trully enjoyed that show. [media] For those of you you never heard of them here's a quote from wikipedia: Stereophonics are a Welsh rock band. Since their debut album, Word Gets Around, which peaked at #6 in the album chart, they have had 5 consecutive albums reach #1 in the UK album charts. Described as "classic UK rock with whiskey vocals", the band has enjoyed considerable success in the UK, with 25 singles reaching the top 40 of the UK Singles chart. In 2005, their song Dakota became the band's biggest hit, reaching #1 on both the UK Singles chart and the UK Downloads chart, and becoming the band's first single to chart in the US, reaching #34 on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart. I was a bit surprised how many songs they played from their debut album "Word Gets Around". Frankly it's still my favorite album by them, so I didn't mind at all. I also loved the accoustic version of "Maybe tomorrow", so you might want to check out the video. [media]
All American Rejects at NYC's HumanRace
Sep 1, 2008
Yesterday Nike organized a very nice event - its "HumanRace" was a 10K (6.21 miles) run in about 25 cities worldwide. As a big bonus they added a free concert for all participants afterward. So in LA the participants got a free concert by Kanye West, Die Fantastischen Vier performed in Munich and so on. In New York we had the privilege to get a free concert by the "All American Rejects". Although their last album is quite old by now (they released "Move Along" in 2005) I was really looking forward to this simply because I love that album. You probably remember it from hits such as "It end tonight", "Dirty Little Secret" or "Move Along". The event took place on Randall's Island which turned out to be a great location. Although about 10,000 people participated in the run, only about 1,000 people showed up for the concert afterward. This gave it sort of an intimate setting. The weather was just picture perfect, the location green and luscious and the sound system just superb. Everyone really seemed to enjoy the show and the guys had tremendous fun on stage. When they played "It ends tonight" which sounded somewhat out of tune the singer stopped the song after about one minute. He made everyone play a C-chord to find out who was out of tune. It turned out the singer's bass as well as another guitar were badly mistuned. So they tried to tune it quickly with a funny "tune song" where he chanted to a funky beat "This is a C chord, this is a D chord" while each one try to tune his instrument accordingly. When this failed they settled on an acoustic version of this song with 2 acoustic guitars only. My favorite song was, just like on the album, "Top of the World". The concert closed with a nice firework. Nicely done, Nike, thanks! BTW, we ran the race with a very small official SoundClick team and presented SC quite well wink ;) BTW II, every runner had to wear the red race T-shirt. That's why you see so many red T-shirts in this picture.
Bruce Springsteen at Giant's Stadium last night
Jul 29, 2008
I'd never seen the Boss in concert before, so I was excited to catch his show on his hometurf. You hear so many good things about him as a live performer. The show was supposed to start at 7:30. There was nothing, no warm-up band or similar until he entered the stage at 8:45. That's just not a good way to start a show in my book. Anyway, when he entered the stage the crowd was immediately into it. The show was good, but maybe my expectations were a bit high. He just played his set like any other show and the set list as well as the musical arrangements offered little variety, it was more or less the same sound throughout the night. He played a couple of "older" cover songs and even closed the show with a 15 min version of "Twist and Shout", but left out own classics such as "Born in the USA". So, in a nutshell, we had fun, the concert was good, but I don't see myself rushing to see him live again.

Hi Tanju!
Hope all is well on your side of the screen. Was inspired the other day and composed a new track. Sometimes you want the whole world to hear the latest song. Don't remember if I told you about it. But maybe I did. Anyway sent out some messages to SC-friends about it. Don't know if all messages got through. By the way, a bit late but would like to congratulated you and Tolgar and SC-staff on your Soundclick 25th anniversary. Soundclick is a great favourite here as you know.
Keep up the good work friends!
Greetings from Sweden,

Hello!
Thoughts sometimes.
Why talk so very much...
Shouldn't the music be the answer.
Keep up the good work my friends.

Hi Tanju!
I often think of you and Tolgar in these difficult Corona times. It's often easy to just take everything for granted without thinking. A year or so before my father left this world in the fall of 2018.
Then he said - do you even care about me at all. I said then, if you don't believe it, why would I have stayed here for all those years. It's easy to sometimes forget to say all the important words.
But I know that you and the staff are important. Be careful and keep up the good work. Greetings from Sweden,
Svante / Clubsville
