STARKÊwill release a third album of nine songs,ÊRace To The Floor,ÊMarch 9, 2010.ÊÊThe New York City CD Release Party will be heldÊMarch 13th at 10pmÊatÊArlene's GroceryÊon the Lower East Side of Manhattan and the first 50 people in the door will receive a freeÊSTARKÊtote bag filled with a copy of the album and other goodies, like autographed posters.ÊÊThere will be several lines of t's and tanks to purchase at a discount for the night of the party only.ÊÊ
With the addition ofÊJoe HoganÊon guitar, expect to have your speakers rattling as you are reminded of 70's FM radio.ÊÊSTARKÊlikes to joke that this is theÊnew classic rock.ÊÊThe original hard rock trio has produced a completely DIY project withÊHoganÊonce again doing his magic behind the board, mixing and engineering atÊLoho Studios, Atlantic Recordings, and Big Blue Meenie.ÊÊDrummerÊEric RobelÊcontributed all of the artwork, including taking the photos on a timer without a photographer.ÊÊFinally, founder and front-womanÊLani Ford,Êa multi ASCAP Plus award winner andÊDaisy Rock GuitarsÊendorsed artist,Êfinanced the majority of the project while writing all of the lyrics, updating all of the sites, booking gigs and tours, running press and radio campaigns, and maintaining relationships with thousands of contacts.ÊÊThe band is already writing new material for an EP that will feature live tracks from the CD Release Party plus a cover or two.
"It can be maddening," says Ford of completing the project with basically 3 people, "but it is very rewarding to know it's a product of our own blood, sweat, and beers!ÊÊAnd lots of support from our fans and friends."ÊÊÊThe album has been "leaked" to a few of STARK's favorite radio and internet stations and has been receiving airplay as well as this comment from Douglas Craig at NYCMusic.net: "I got a chuckle when I saw the title--very Stark!...you guys have knocked this one right out of the park!"
In 2009,ÊSTARKÊplayed GNYC-TVÕsÊM.E.A.N.Y.FestÊin NYC at The Studio at Webster Hall.ÊÊSTARKÕsÊHoganÊandÊFordÊplayed theÊIndiegrrl in the Arts Conference and ShowcaseÊin Nashville.ÊÊFordÊwas a guest host on the internet showÊRew & WhoÊand also DJ'd the New York Waste Compilation CD in the fall of 2009.ÊÊLaniÊhas appeared onÊFrankie Russo's Rock Chicks LiveÊon chataboutit.com many times over the past year and wasÊSpotlight ArtistÊfor the week of February 8, 2010.ÊÊLaniÊalso played a 10 day solo acoustic tour in the UK in November 2009, opening for the bandÊLilith's Army.ÊÊ
STARKÊwill be returning to the UK in June 2010.ÊÊSTARKÕs music video for the song ÒOH NO!Ó wonÊBest Music VideoÊatÊThe New York International Independent Film and Video FestivalÊin October 2009.ÊÊIn the meantime,ÊSTARKÕs sophomore CDÊPut It To Your HeadÊhas been receiving great press and radio all over the world since itÕs release in January 2008.ÊÊ
