Had a guitar riff I wrote about a year ago , put it down on tape and a year later I used the same track in the song. Came together very quickly. Music probably done in two days and the lyrics came quickly as well. Two days of vocal recording and all the mixing as I went along. Love the Cm7 mic into the Chandler Redd 47 and the Zener ! (Sorry I'm a gear nerd) Putting the song up soon.
So I posted a new song Matter of Time. Wrote the lyrics in 20,17 and the music in 1989. Did and posted several mixes as I polished it , and I think it's pretty cool. In the first version I posted all of the basic tracks were from the original sequence from 1989. I got a friend (Joe Oriente) to play bass to replace the Sequence synth bass I originally had, and Gina Vantuno sang background vocals with me in the Bridge. They both added so much to the song, and I'm grateful for their contributions!
So I am finishing up another song that I wrote when I lived in Hoboken, and added a brand new chorus that took the song to another level. The Song is called "Gone" , and it won't take much to finish it now. I threw some drums up with one mike to sketch the arrangement for the chorus and it worked great! So I need to record the drums properly .The thing I like about the song is that it is also very different from the others that I have completed. I had a great session in the studio today, after a hiatus from recording. I am back in the studio mode again. It was a very productive session.
Finished another song )see title above) and now I have three more before My first set of songs is complete! This is a very big deal for me. I have wanted to complete an album on my own terms my whole life. Now I finally have something to show for. A dream I've worked very hard to fulfill. When this journey is over, I'll set a new goal of songs to be completed, and having completed this first set of songs I know I'll be able to do that too! Taking a very small breather before I start to work on the those next three songs this fall. Two have been started, and one has to be done from scratch.
