A lot of people would point to the 60s and 70s as the best periods in rock history. Me? I'm going with 1991. The amount of now-classic albums released that year is mind-boggling: Nirvana's "Nevermind", Pearl Jam's "Ten", REM's "Out of Time", Temple of the Dog's debut, Metallica's "Black Album", "Use Your Illusion" by Guns n Roses, "Blood Sugar Sex Magic" by Red Hot Chili Peppers, U2's "Achtung Baby", as well as a huge amount of late-period gems from old classic rock artists (Tom Petty, Ozzy) and early efforts from bands who would later achieve greatness (Smashing Pumpkins, 2Pac). Find me another year that has more legendary albums than 1991. Comment if you disagree!
