Sound Quality

So...I'm seeing that the sound quality of my music absolutely SUCKS ON LAPTOPS. Sounds good on desktops... Anybody can help me out and tell me as to why that is the case? Is it just because laptops speakers r BAMMA as hell, or is it something more than that??? I'm new to this making beat/doing my own recording thing..only 9 months in (april 2010)
