Darla
now freelance writing and otherwise bummed out
Mar 29, 2009
It’s been three months since my former employer let go of me. The recession left me and tens of my ex-colleagues jobless. I couldn’t afford to be unemployed, as I have a young girl to take care of. So I took a part-time tutorial job. I was hoping for freelance writing jobs.
I was in the supermarket when I met Rosaline, my former roommate. It was nearly a year since we were together. Our remaining minutes were spent catching up. It was when I told Rosaline that I was not fully employed that she invited me to try the community college that offers quick job programs in . It didn’t take me a day to decide.
I enrolled in a program that would lead me to a certificate in technician. I couldn't even pronounce it at first. Balancing my studies and my time with my kid was challenging, but I like it and I was able to finish the program.
Not only did I get a new job sooner, but I also learned that the college offers freelance writing jobs. My problem right now is how to find some time for my sweet angel.
