My Best Friend
Nov 14, 2009
My friend Don and his wife Judy recently collaborated on wrting a song together. She wrote the lyric. He wrote the music. They were both frustrated, however, because the song had not been recorded and they wanted to submit it to the producers of the Twilight series to be considered as a soundtrack song. Don came to me (I found out later at the request of his wife) and asked if I could help to get the song produced and recorded. We sat down and figured out what it would take and I decided to take the project on. I brought the song to a talented vocalist and arranger who also happened to have her own recording studio. She listened to the tune and poured herself into the arrangement and the vocals and the result is the haunting and beautiful My Best Friend as sung and arranged by Natalia Greshenko.

Enter into My Rest by Stan C. Countz

Come to me all ye who are weary and heavy laden
You’ll find peace and rest as I hold you to my breast
This world is not your home; it’s quickly fadin’
You’re just a guest but you’ll be truly blessed
If you will just be still and know that I am God
Don’t think you need to ink a big corporate deal
You don’t need a drink or a pink or purple pill
To be a success, to pass the test or to be fulfilled
You’ll be blessed if you’ll give it your best shot
Never give to get, even if you’re in a tight spot
You’ve been bought and sold, not with silver or gold
But with my precious blood; I gave it all I got
Keep it real in spite of how you might feel
Do it as unto me with all your zest and zeal
Give it your all and give it all your best
Let go and let God and enter in to my rest
In this world you will have tribulation
If it weren’t true, I would have told you so
Trust in me; I am the key to your salvation
In me you’ll find peace and rest for your soul
It’s true that you hold something special
It’s tough to measure and tough to hold
A precious treasure in an earthen vessel
May your love for me never grow cold
But, with just enough pressure
This tough ol’ lump of dust and coal
Becomes a sparkling treasure
More precious than silver or gold
So store your treasure in heaven where it can never grow old
Store it where it can never rust or mold or be bought or sold
It can’t be measured, but it’s worth more than riches untold
So keep your feet planted on the rock that can never be rolled
I made you from the dust, then I broke the mold
I gave my life for the sheep of my father’s fold
My love runs deep and will never grow cold
And you’ll find peace and rest for your soul
Enter in to my rest; life can be a thrill
So take a deep breath; no need for a pill
You will be blessed; you will be filled
So be still and know that I am God
and enter in to my rest
Enter into my rest
