Echoes of Lost Generations Journal 004

I was convicted by a movie recently
Me and my father went to watch the Book of Eli
Once my father got finished talking on the phone
"During the opening scene"
sadness.... lol!
We were begin watching what I consider to be
The most important movie since
The Passion of Christ
A lawless society
People have forgotten to read
Our generation has become extinct
The survivors are illiterate and faithless,
They are savage and dirty rapist and murderers
And although Eli is just a man
He has a purpose
He is protected by his faith in God
and I remembered the times when my faith was that strong
I remembered feeling powerful
As if nothing could hinder me
He read the bible everyday
There was no church to attend
No one to fellowship with
Only his bible and his God
No car to carry him to where God was leading him
Just his two feet and his faith
I remember this feeling
Not knowing where rent money or car note was coming from
But not worried
Working steadfast, Still helping others
And as I completed the task laid out for me
The money would pour in
I remember when my faith was unmovable
I remember reading that it only took faith equal to the size of a mustard seed
And a person could do the impossible
I listen to people attribute surviving disaster to "luck"
But when I hear their stories
I hear faith whether they say it or not
They believe in themselves to an amazing degree
And they push through attacks, starvation, broken limbs and more
And right when they are about to give up
God sends rescue!
I watched Eli read his bible everyday
I listed as the words became embedded into his heart
He seemed more than a man
And he was,
he was a man led by and protected by God.
That's right, I was convicted by a movie
I wonder how many will watch simply for entertainment
And go home going about their lives normally
Continuing the legacy of the illiterate and ignorant
Mainstream Rap has become so ignorant and illiterate
That it reminds me of the lawless
My kids wont even listen anymore
They prefer pop and rock
I rarely listen anymore
I heard the classic song "Self Destruction" the other day
And it is what continues to happen
Our culture is so very self destructive
I pray for Obama as he has been elected the front man
for an vengeful and mean generation
He carries the weight of his administration and congress
I never blamed George Bush personally for his mistakes
There are so many decisions being made everyday
By everyone but the president
The president is like the mailman
He delivers the final message
He has the power to sign for it to be released
It takes a great family and father to accept that amount of pressure
Someone in my class said they don't like Obama's healthcare plan
And in the next sentence they said they've never read about it
How could we be so hateful that we judge before we research
When did we start backing the popular opinion regardless of how hateful it seems
sadness...
Even cartoons are ignorant with no real lessons as they were before
Cartoons are more like animated versions of Saturday Night Live
They are filled with vulgar language
Twisted sexual references
and our kids are attracted to them simply because they are animated
They assume that they are kids shows
I was glad when cartoon network was taken off of basic cable by comcast
My kids no longer have to watch Adult Swim
Even though I find the shows to be funny
I know my kids are not able to process them correctly
I say all this to say that the movie showed me
where we are headed as a
We have to teach our kids to be street smart as well as book smart
They will need lots of common sense
They should teach logic in middle and high school
Teach kids how to argue mathematically
Using the concepts of logic
Rather than the "who shoots or kills first"
There is a dangerous
