That depends on what you would consider HIP HOP in da south, if u consider south as a whole then Hip Hop did not die, she just transitioned, first UP north of course, then West Coast, then MIdwest, now south, but now its a problem if in the south, huh. But if you considered what you hear on the radio as hip hop, you cannot get mad at SOuth as a whole, u should be angry at the companies who allow the type of music on the radio to be heard, the artist has no control over what is played on the radio, only influence. I agree the RADIO is making a worse name for the south even though people hatin already anyway on the south, and the music they allow does not appeal to alot of people but there are artist and pioneers in the south who you don't hear on the radio who has great music and talk about the same stuff as the so called hip hop NY be talking about and don't get played on the radio. So if you think that south is about bubble gum music and candy paint only then you ain't listening to music only, to what you hear on the radio and what others are liking. I mean what does the south do differently than what NY, CA, MO, or any music scenery do. Nothing we all talk about the same thang with different swagger. Just so happen since Lil Jon got on the seen the south hasn't flopped off since and it's hindering anybody else from getting lots of money, so here comes the hate. Artist can't also help that they draw the crowds they do. If you got a rapper who is hot, or think he is but nobody listens to him because everybody expects people to sound like whats on the radio, just so happen the south, then the artist can't hate, it's just not your time, or you gotta come very hard and impact heavily. Don't hate cause you got Jeezy, TI, and others killing the fan base level and nobody else want to listen to anything else. It's just a matter of time til something else new and appealing come along to create that fan base, and that depends on the region they from, if the south keeps producing artist who appeal to the mass then people gonna keep listening to their music. That's just reality. I'm not takin up for no region, even though I love the south cause I"m southern, but if people as a whole enjoy music like they say they do, then kudos to good music, and if u don't like something then what you do, don't listen to it, plain and simple. And to all them people who claim they tired of that shoot shoot bang bang rap, suck a dick you contridicting M*vf*ckas, cause them the very same people that expect it when they listen to artist or be saying it in their rhymes as soon as they say "I'm tired of that be different", too many opinions now a days is fucking up the world, I like music, if it's good, then oh well to what region it's from.
