Daniel Pagdon and Denise Jordan Finley joined forces in the summer of 2005, having met about a year before at the Towne Crier, in Pawling, NY. Denise was there to try out a new song after having recently gone solo after many years of playing with Joe Murray as a duo. Daniel was there to meet musicians in the area, having moved to Hudson from New Jersey. He was then playing with the Peter Karp Road Show. Denise remembers that he was adding his name to the sign-up sheet by stating that he'd be glad to play with anyone who would ask. She remembers hearing him for the first time, playing for a guy whose chord progression was 'less than conventional.' It was an original song, and Pagdon could have had no way of having heard the song previously. Denise remembers that he supported the guitarist effortlessly and with grace. When she took the stage, Finley asked him to join her on a pretty straightforward blues song she'd written and he accompanied and soloed in the song at her request. They exchanged business cards had made little effort for further communication for about a year. They were reunited at the Rail Trail Festival in Millerton, New York when Daniel, a lover of all things having to do with trains, appeared. He happened to have his bass and rig in his Ford Explorer, and when asked to join her onstage, he never missed a beat throughout Denise's set-- start to finish. That was the beginning of their continuing partnership. To be continued...
