Hi my friends, I hope this is not to long but this is a little about my life. I was born and bred in London, England. At the age of 20 I joined the merchant navy as a steward for the P&O lines to see the world, visiting places like Gibraltar, Suez Canal, Aden, Bombay, Australia, Fiji, and Tonga etc. Later in Life I joined the BBC TV in west London, worked there for 25 years and loved it, then I got cancer twice, but by prayer and treatment was cured, the BBC retired me early. Still miss the dear old aunty BBC. I then felt I wanted to serve the poor so I joined a ship called "Doulos" working in the AV department, I was involved with most of the sound mixing on board. My first trip on "Doulos" was to Taiwan and I remember saying "This is home" Loved the Taiwanese, my now wonderful wife BG who is a Singaporean looked after me while in Taiwan, she had been in Taiwan for 15 years. I eventually had to go back to England for the usual check up for any recurrence of cancer, all clear! I also wanted to see the poor on "Smokey mountain" in the Philippines,(it is a massive mountain rubbish dump that is always smoking) and I did some filming there, the people are so poor and yet so proud, wonderful people. Later I joined Doulos again to help put a new sound system on board, we traveled to many countries around Asia, then eventually I came back to England. BG called me and asked if I would like to stay in Taiwan to help her with all the the sound work, I jumped at the opportunity as I dearly wanted to go back to Taiwan. We were offered a job as DJs in a local radio station in Taichung too with our own 1 hour radio program which was called "Uncle allans Hour" we loved it, I used to speak slowly in my London accent and BG would interpret in mandarin. It was a great opportunity to enjoy the company of the Taiwanese, young and old. We got engaged in Taiwan. Eventually BGs parents who were getting old and wanted BG and I to return to Singapore, so after the massive earthquake in Taiwan 1999 which we were in the middle of (horrific) we returned to Singapore. We got married in Singapore to the delight of her mum and dad before they passed away. Now BG is working with a very big company in Singapore. For me, I built up a small home studio so that I could hopefully try to do some more music as it has always been part of my life too. I am also very fortunate to have such a wonderful caring wife. I hope this was not too long?? Thank you again for your friendship, Allan
