SOUNDCLICK CHARTS
Jul 26, 2009
Being a part of the Soundclick community for quite some time now, and even contributing my own hip hop beats to this community, I gotta say that i'm a little disappointed with the current mindset of hip hop production.
Producers used to spend HOURS digging in the crates looking for samples to combine with either breaks or their own drum patterns. It seems like now-a-days, all the hip hop production I hear on Soundclick is pure garbage. Too many producers with a studio full of different keyboards and computer software, because they are afraid to sample a song and get sued.
I've only posted a handful of my own beats on SC over the last 4-5 years, all of which were samples, and yes, all done with computer software because I don't have the proper equipment yet to produce beats the way i really want to.
I'm not gonna lie, I keep a close eye on where my songs land on the charts, and see who i'm competing with on the rise to top of the charts, and i'll tell you that usually 10 times outta 10, the beat right above me and below me is PURE GARBAGE!
Have these kids (yes, a majority of these producers are kids) just settled for what "monkey hear, monkey do?" Whatever happened to people using the creative side of the brain?
Don't get me wrong, because there ARE some producers on SC that's keeping it real by sampling...and I have even found a few producers on here who actually know how to PLAY a keyboard instead of just banging on it like a 2 year old and recording it!
The only problem is that finding these producers who sample is like a needle in a haystack.
IDC if SC has their rules and regulations, but I have a suggestion for them: Why not have a category for the Beats/Instrumentals section of SC dedicated to those that sample? It would make finding these cats a lot easier.
