Melvin Williams, songwriter, producer, musician, and recording/mixing engineer, was born and raised in Augusta, Georgia. Growing up in a christian household, and as the son of a pastor (father) and a minister (mother), Mel would sneak and search through the radio stations for whatever sounded good. Combining the influences of what he heard on the radio, what he heard in church, and the sounds of some jazz records handed down from his uncle (who was also a musician), he quickly developed his skills as a solo saxophonist and keyboardist. Mel became a minister of music for his father's church at the age of 15. He has played for and produced various local gospel, r&b, and hip-hop artists. Being influenced by several pioneers of music, some have described his sound as a soulful mixture of r&b, hip-hop, neo-soul, and smooth jazz, with a hint of traditional gospel. This year, Melvin opened a recording studio and production company in his hometown of Augusta, GA, specializing in many different genres of music. If you take a listen, you'll probably agree with many who say that he is well on his way to making his mark on everyone touched by the radio waves.
